Ondertussen in de Koppelkerk te Bredevoort

Gisterenmiddag werd dan eindelijk de BREEKijzer⇲ groepsexpositie geopend. Vorig jaar, nog ver voor de corona-pandemie, had de tentoonstelling het thema BALANS⇲ meegekregen. Uiteindelijk schreven tweeëntwintig kunstenaars van het collectief zich in. Daar is een verrassende groepspresentatie uit voortgekomen. Een eenheid in verscheidenheid van hoge kwaliteit. In de maanden juni en juli zal ik daar zeker een aantal malen op terugkomen.
verbandwisselingen - hans mellendijk
Ik had de eer om de expositie te openen met het gedicht Verbandwisselingen. Daarna volgde mooie, lovende, schone woorden door Sylvia Heijen⇲ van de Koppelkerk⇲, gevolgd door gastspreker Paul van der Lee⇲ en afsluitende dankwoorden en bedankjes door de voorzitter van BREEKijzer Margareth van Aken⇲ Ik heb in de aanloop naar de expositie wat kiekjes gemaakt.

**) - The B-side of The Beatles' best selling single “Hey Jude”, “Revolution” has John Lennon expressing doubt in regard to some of the tactics used by the 1968 protests. While the song was originally recorded as the calmer, bluesier “Revolution I” (with John using one of the takes to create the sound collage “Revolution 9” ), Paul and George felt it was too slow to follow John’s suggestion to use it as a single. Thus “Revolution” was re-recorded as a distortion-heavy hard rock track. John Lennon: "I wanted to put out what I felt about revolution. I thought it was time we fucking spoke about it, the same as I thought it was about time we stopped not answering about the Vietnamese war when we were on tour with Brian Epstein and had to tell him, ‘We’re going to talk about the war this time, and we’re not going to just waffle.’ I wanted to say what I thought about revolution.
*) - Beatles fun fact - at :06 Paul McCartney screams. During the recording session, Paul always liked to walk around barefoot until that day, when he went to plug into the phone jack, there was a short in the wire and received an electrical jolt. The tape reels continued recording, Pauls scream in agony was left in the original recording....

***) - “Revolution” was written in response the the Beatles' famous song by the same name, released a year earlier. The lyrics of Simone’s song respond to the themes of the Beatles'. Simone expresses the urgency of the civil rights movement and the necessity of change in contrast to the Beatles' critique of the many social movements in 1960s U.S.

de zon ontploft verblindend
noodgedwongen stop ik om
zijn ondergang af te wachten
stap uit om foto's te maken
de straat is vervuld van kermislawaai
versierd met smiley-zonnebloemen
in de zoeker heb ik zon en bloem op één lijn
de smiley heeft een stralende halo
de straat staat in een onwerkelijk licht
dronken mensen werpen lange schaduwen
en gooien met bekers vol bier
ik rij voorzichtig verder langs de feesttent
die de andere weghelft verspert
en draai het portierraam dicht
voordat het nat naar binnen gutst
...en Hij zeide: "Ziet, ik maak alle dingen nieuw"
zo zal de jongste dag zijn in Halle
niet eerder zag ik zo'n waanzinnig licht
zelfs in de blik van de mensen
lag de flits van een supernova.
